✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel that is blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to moist air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Double-jointed with a wide tongue passage. Unlike other double-jointed bits, it reduces pressure on the tongue rather than increasing it.
- ✔ Combines a hackamore and a bit: pressure is distributed between the mouth and the nose. The short shanks provide moderate leverage. An adjustment screw is located above the mouthpiece.
- ✔ Used on horses that do not accept pressure on the tongue.

🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The hackamore acts on the nose bridge: make sure the noseband rests on the bone and not on the cartilage of the nostrils. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is the normal function of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
