✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Single-jointed mouthpiece fitted with free-moving rollers on each side. The rollers discourage the horse from grabbing the bit or holding it between its teeth.
- ✔ Similar to a Pelham, but with more direct action. It can be used with one or two reins: the lower the rein is attached, the greater the leverage. It can also be used as a driving bit.

🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
