A pony loose-ring bit made of mild steel with a blue patina, featuring a double-jointed mouthpiece with an elliptical link.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel that is blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Double-jointed design with an elliptical central link. This shape better follows the anatomy of the mouth and allows the bit to sit more freely, but it applies slightly more pressure to the center of the tongue than a single-jointed bit.
- ✔ The rings do not slide: the bit remains stable in the mouth and rein aids are transmitted more directly. The loose rings do not pinch the lips, so bit guards are unnecessary. TRUST pony collection dimensions: thinner mouthpiece and smaller rings.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The elliptical link eliminates the pinching effect of a single joint without imposing the firmness of a flat plate: it is the most forgiving type of double-jointed bit.
🧴 How to use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is how Sweet Iron normally works, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
