A small cone is often enough for training: save the larger studs for competition, and the horseshoe suffers less the rest of the time.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Choose according to the ground, not habit: on hard, dry ground, use a thinner stud; on wet or deep ground, use a thicker stud. The outer studs should be the same length as the inner ones, or no more than 0.5 cm longer—as anything beyond that causes the foot to land crooked. Clean the hole with a thread cleaner and run the tap through it again before screwing in: a dirty thread damages both the stud and the horseshoe. Remove the studs as soon as the event is over; never transport or stable the horse with them fitted.
