Satin Sense bits owe their appearance to a silky coating applied to the mouthpiece, which feels pleasant on the horse’s tongue. Their curved, ergonomic shape creates extra space for the tongue and distributes pressure evenly throughout the mouth. On a loose-ring snaffle with eggbutt rings, the rings do not rotate freely, so the reins have a more direct effect than with a loose-ring bit. This type of bit is generally well accepted because the mouthpiece remains relatively stable in the mouth.

With a double-jointed bit, the mouthpiece consists of three parts, and the central section lies flat on the tongue. This creates more pressure on the tongue than a single-jointed bit, but eliminates the V-shaped effect toward the palate.
🧴 Usage advice
Measure the width from one ring to the other with the mouthpiece stretched out. ⚠️ A bit that is too narrow pinches the corners of the mouth; one that is too wide moves around in the mouth and knocks against the teeth. Allow approximately half a centimetre of mouthpiece to be visible on each side.
