A thick saddle pad does not necessarily provide shock absorption: quilted cotton compresses and transmits impact. Technical foam retains its thickness under pressure—that is what distinguishes a “professional” saddle pad from an ordinary one, and it matters for a horse with a sensitive back.

Make sure to pull the saddle pad well up into the saddle’s gullet before girthing. Wash without fabric softener. ⚠️ Air-dry only: a tumble dryer irreversibly compresses the foam, eliminating precisely the effect it is designed to provide.
