Preparing the pad
- On delivery, the battery already has some charge. You can top it up before first use: a full charge can take up to 12 hours (see Battery and charger).
- When you are ready, connect the battery to the pad using the cable in the pocket on the right side of the pad.
Introducing the pad to your horse
During the first introduction, it is preferable for someone to hold and reassure your horse.
- Fold the straps over the pad so that they do not get in the way.
- Gently slide the pad over the horse’s back into the correct position: the front of the pad should rest on the shoulders. The pad should naturally follow the curve of the back.
- Adjust the length of the straps, but do not fasten them yet.
- If your horse seems calm, switch on the pad using the on/off button. It starts automatically on the low setting.
Fastening the straps
- If you are sure your horse is comfortable, fasten the chest strap, then the belly straps.
- The belly straps cross over each other as they do on a blanket. On the XL pad, the central strap attaches directly to the opposite central strap.
- Start with the straps tightened so that they lie flat against the horse’s sides and the pad remains stable on its back.
- As the horse relaxes during the massage, it may breathe more deeply: readjust the straps to allow its ribcage to expand.
The massage session
Each session lasts 30 minutes, after which the pad switches off automatically. If you do not have 30 minutes, switch it off manually using the on/off button: a shorter session is still beneficial for the horse.
| Setting | Use |
|---|---|
| Low | Cool-down after work. |
| Medium | Ideal for warming up the muscles before exercise. |
| High | When your horse needs a more intense massage. |
When to use the massage
- For horses resting in their stalls, to help maintain good blood circulation.
- After exercise, to aid recovery.
- Before exercise, as part of the warm-up.
- At competitions, to help the horse relax after travelling.
- On the horse's rest days, as part of a maintenance programme.
- At any time, as a reward.
Care and storage
- When not in use, always disconnect the battery from the pad to preserve its charge.
- The fabric cannot be washed, but it can be wiped to remove grease or marks.
- Store the pad in a temperate, dry place. Make sure it is dry before storing it between uses.
