A Beval bit made of blue-patina mild steel, with a grooved mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ The mouthpiece is grooved along its entire length. The grooves provide more grip on the bars than a smooth mouthpiece.
- ✔ Loose rings with two inner half-rings, providing a slight leverage effect. The bridle cheekpiece attaches to the upper half-ring, while the rein attaches to the large ring or lower half-ring.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The grooves provide more bite than a smooth mouthpiece without going as far as a twisted mouthpiece: an intermediate option when a smooth mouthpiece is no longer sufficient.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it presses on the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brownish-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ The mouthpiece is more severe than a smooth one: avoid using it on a sensitive mouth.
