⚠️ A Pelham has shanks and a curb chain: it acts through leverage, and its pressure is greater than that of a snaffle. It is used with two pairs of reins, or with rein connectors to use just one pair—rein connectors are mandatory in competition. A Pelham allows you to ride with a single bit where a double bridle requires two, but it should not be used without proper guidance: it is a leverage bit.

Rinse with clean water after use. Measure the width from one ring to the other, with the mouthpiece straight. ⚠️ A bit that is too narrow pinches the corners of the mouth; one that is too wide moves around in the mouth and knocks against the teeth.
