Size guide – Mattès girths

Take the measurements

Re-girth before measuring the girth length. The girthing must be done at the same hole on each side.

Measure from the lower edge of one flap to the lower edge of the other flap, subtract 30 cm. Always round up to the next length.

EXAMPLE:
Measurement = 101 cm
Subtraction 101 – 30 = 71cm
Girth length = 75 cm

🛑 Make sure the buckles of the new girth are clearly above the elbow's movement area!

Choose the type of girth

anatomical

For horses with a pronounced girth passage located sufficiently far from the elbow. The girth is cut out at the front and back at the elbow.
(The girth can be rotated.)

asymmetrical

For horses with a girth passage close to the elbow or less pronounced, when the girth tends to slip forward. At the front, the girth has a strong cutout at the elbow.

half-moon

For "rounder" horses with a short back, wide rib cage, and narrow chest. Thanks to its particular shape, the girth follows the curve of the ribs well, preventing it from slipping forward.

athletico

For horses with an athletic build tapering towards the rear. In almost all cases, the special cut of the girth prevents the saddle and girth from slipping backward.
