A pony eggbutt bit made of blue-patinated mild steel, with a single-jointed mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Single joint. This mouthpiece puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed one and works mainly on the bars and sides of the tongue. It is the standard mouthpiece.
- ✔ The rings do not slide: the bit stays in a stable position in the mouth and the rein aid is transmitted more directly. The eggbutt sides do not pinch the lips, so bit guards are unnecessary. Dimensions of the TRUST pony collection: thinner mouthpiece and smaller cheeks.

🐎 Why choose this product?
This is the mouthpiece most horses are familiar with: the one to start with, and the one to return to when trying to determine what comes from the bit and what comes from the hand.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
