Kavalkade Size Guide – Saddle Pads
Kavalkade saddle pads are chosen according to two criteria: the cut, which follows the shape of your saddle, and the size, which matches your horse’s build.
The cut
- Dressage — long, straight flaps, for a dressage saddle.
- All-purpose — shorter, more forward-cut flaps, for an all-purpose or jumping saddle.
Choose the cut that matches your saddle: a dressage pad under an all-purpose saddle will protrude at the front, while an all-purpose pad under a dressage saddle will leave the flap exposed.
The size
| Size | For |
|---|---|
| Shetland | Shetlands and very small ponies |
| Dressage pony | Ponies, dressage saddle |
| All-purpose pony | Ponies, all-purpose or jumping saddle |
| Dressage | Horses, dressage saddle |
| All-purpose | Horses, all-purpose or jumping saddle |
Check that the pad fits correctly
Once in place, the pad should extend beyond the saddle by approximately 3 to 5 cm all around. Lift it into the gullet before girthing up, to clear the withers and allow air to circulate along the back.
