- Tree collar based on glue against ants and earwigs.
- Physical barrier preventing pests from climbing the aerial parts of the tree.
- Does not dirty the tree bark.
Transparent glue made of poly and isobutylene
Usage
- For preventive control to avoid invasions of crawling pest insects such as:
- Ants - carrying aphids and thus boosting their colonies.
- Aphids - directly contributing to the general weakening of the infested tree.
- Earwigs damaging stone fruits at the end of ripening.
- Defoliating caterpillars and other crawling insects feeding on young stems/leaves.
- First, wrap the foam around the trunk (at least 40 cm from the ground), stretch it, secure with two pins, and cut off the excess.
- Then, do the same with the green mesh, avoiding overlapping in the same spot.
- Once in place, the collar is ready to be glued. Apply two lines of glue to create a better barrier against ants.
- At the foam band overlap, check that ants cannot pass; if so, apply a few drops of glue to block their passage.
- Check once a month that the collar is not saturated with insects.
- Reapply glue if necessary.
- Avoid tall grass or low branches that would create paths for insects to reach the upper parts of the tree without going through the trunk.
- Collar lifespan: until saturated by insects; if needed, the collar can be re-glued using the glue tube.
