A Baucher bit has upward branches with a ring to be attached to the cheekpieces. Unlike other bridles, this bit has a small lever effect and applies pressure behind the ears. The bit is ideally suited for sensitive horses.
On a double-jointed ring bit, the mouthpiece is in three parts. The central part of the mouthpiece rests flat on the tongue. This thus creates more pressure on the tongue than with a single-jointed bit. The thicker the central part, the greater the pressure on the tongue.
