This bit is made of solid Cuprigan — an alloy of 89% copper, 7% aluminum, 3% iron, and 1% zinc — mounted on stainless steel rings. As it oxidizes, the material releases a pleasant smell and taste. Its anatomical shape follows the contours of the horse’s mouth and distributes pressure gently and evenly.
A Baucher bit has upward-curving cheeks ending in a ring, which attaches to the cheekpieces of the bridle. Unlike other snaffles, it has a slight leverage effect and applies pressure behind the ears. The cheeks angle slightly outward, allowing the horse’s head greater freedom of movement. The supplier describes it as ideally suited to sensitive horses.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The Baucher attaches to the cheekpieces via its upward-curving cheeks: the bit sits high and remains very stable in the horse’s mouth. This is desirable for a sensitive horse that is bothered by the movement of a loose mouthpiece. ⚠️ Its slight leverage effect transfers pressure behind the ears: it is not an ordinary snaffle.
🧴 Care instructions
Rinse the bit with clean water after each use. ⚠️ Cuprigan tarnishes and turns green as it oxidizes: this is the alloy functioning normally, not a defect, and it should not be removed with an abrasive product.
