This bit combines high-quality stainless steel with flexible plastic. The whole bit remains stable while staying gentle in the horse’s mouth. The plastic has a hardness of 90A and is FDA-approved: it is solvent-free, plasticizer-free, and non-toxic.
This bit has an additional ring at the top and bottom. Attaching the cheekpieces to the upper rings and the reins to the middle or lower ring creates a leverage effect: the lower the reins are attached, the greater the effect.

The supplier recommends these bits for all horses, particularly young horses, horses with sensitive mouths, and those that do not tolerate other materials well. With a double-jointed bit, the mouthpiece consists of three parts, and the central section lies flat on the tongue. This creates more pressure on the tongue than a single-jointed bit, but eliminates the V-shaped effect toward the palate. ⚠️ The supplier recommends this bit for horses that are hard-mouthed. A leverage effect multiplies the pressure applied by the rider’s hand: this is not a training bit, and changing the bit can never replace thorough schooling.
🧴 Usage advice
You choose the rein position at the attachment point: the middle ring for a moderate effect, or the lower ring for a stronger effect. Always start with the gentlest position. ⚠️ A leverage bit requires a measured hand and is preferably used with rounding straps, which are mandatory in competition when using a Pessoa. Measure the width from one ring to the other, with the mouthpiece stretched straight. ⚠️ A bit that is too narrow pinches the corners of the mouth; one that is too wide moves around in the mouth and knocks against the teeth. Allow approximately half a centimetre of mouthpiece to show on each side. ⚠️ Check the condition of the plastic regularly: a mouthpiece that is cut or chewed must be replaced.
