A Swivel bit made of blue-patina mild steel, with a mouthpiece featuring brass rings.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Mouthpiece fitted with brass rings in the center. It is suitable for horses with a “dead” mouth who need stimulation, and increases tongue activity.
- ✔ Loose rings with two inner half-rings connected by a vertical bar. The mouthpiece is attached to this bar and pivots up and down, producing a lifting effect. It can be used with one or two reins.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The brass stimulates a mouth that has stopped salivating and is no longer active: this is a bit for getting the mouth working again, not an everyday bit.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse’s mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ On a horse that is already fussy with its mouth, this stimulation may produce the opposite effect.
