An eggbutt 2.5-ring bit made of blue-patinated Sweet Iron, with a medium tongue relief mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to moist air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Straight mouthpiece with medium tongue relief: more room for the tongue and less pressure on its center.
- ✔ A gentler version of the three-ring (Pessoa) bit: leverage is present and becomes more pronounced the lower the rein is attached. Because the rings are fixed, the bit moves less in the mouth than a 2.5-ring bit with loose rings.

🧴 Care and use advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or measure the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The leverage acts on the poll: use it with a light hand and check the cheekpiece adjustment. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orangey film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
