🐎 Why choose this product?

At 50 g, this is not a cold-weather rug: it is protection against rain and wind for a horse living outdoors during the transitional seasons while retaining its winter coat. The fill weight is the amount of insulation, in grams per square metre: this is what provides warmth. As a general guide: 0 to 50 g for basic rain protection, 100 to 150 g for the transitional seasons, 200 to 300 g for winter, and more for a clipped horse or one living outdoors. A horse that sweats under its rug is too hot: it is better to choose slightly less insulation than to leave the horse wet with sweat.

🧴 Care instructions

Brush the rug while dry rather than washing it too often: each wash damages the waterproof coating. ⚠️ Do not use fabric softener, as it clogs the breathable membrane. After a few seasons, a re-waterproofing product for technical fabrics can restore its water-repellent finish. ⚠️ The stated size is the back length: measure your horse from the withers to the base of the tail, along the spine. A rug that is too short pulls across the shoulders and rubs the withers; one that is too long shifts around and the horse may catch its feet in it.
