User Manual Birth Alarm Lite 2.0 / Birth Alarm Premium
Quick Start Guide — Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite
This abbreviated user manual allows you to quickly start using your Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite.
It contains references to the detailed user manual downloadable from the manufacturer’s website (e.g., “see §2.3”).
The very first time (to be done the 1st time after purchase)
Unscrew the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite to open it and remove the red label placed on the pole of one of the batteries. The batteries are now in contact with the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite.
Depending on your country of residence, the SIM card may be delivered with the device.
If so, it is already in the SIM card holder under the battery compartment. (see 5.3)
If not, you must obtain the SIM card yourself and configure it. (See 6) Once done, the SIM card must be inserted into the SIM card holder. (See 5.3)
Once you have completed all these steps for your new Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite, you can close it and continue the setup.
Quick Start — Programming
Take the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite out of the box, along with the special screwdriver.
For a few seconds, hold the back of the special screwdriver against the small red square near the symbol. (See 3.2)
While doing this, you will see the indicator light up 3 times in green, then in blue. When the status light is blue, you can remove the screwdriver. (The Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite is now in programming mode.) (See 7.1)
The Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite now establishes a connection with the operator. (If you installed a new SIM card, the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite may perform some unique configurations. This can take a few minutes.)
When the connection is established between the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite and the operator, the status light will blink alternately once in blue and once in green.
Now, call the mobile number of the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite from your own phone (preferably a mobile phone).
The number of the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite is indicated on the small card or sticker of the prepaid pack you purchased or received with the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite. (See 7.2.1)
The Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite receives your call and stores your number in its memory.
As confirmation, the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite will call you back. You do not need to answer this call!
Your Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite is now programmed!
After a few seconds, the status light blinks alternately once in blue and twice in green.
(You can program a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th number in the same way. There are also two other methods to program the internal SIM card, including via the SIM card or directly from another mobile phone.)
When programming is complete, wait about 2 more minutes until the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite automatically exits programming mode and returns to normal mode. (In normal mode, the status light will light up green once every 8 seconds).
Warning: Caller ID must be enabled on your mobile phone.
When you call someone, that person must be able to see your mobile number on their phone screen.
If necessary, consult your mobile phone’s user manual.
Test
Turn on the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite (see § 10) and then turn the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite to a vertical position.
Wait a few seconds until the GSM indicator blinks. (If you have a Birth Alarm Mobile Premium and use it in standby mode, it will activate as soon as you place the device horizontally for 20 seconds)
Immediately after, the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite will call you. Your (mobile) phone rings.
Installation
Before use, always check if the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite is working. (see 10)
Turn on the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite (see 3.2)
Slide the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite into the designated holder and close it using the clasp. (See 11) (It is possible to turn the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite on and off while it is already in its holder.)
Now attach the holder using tie-wraps under the halter, or possibly in the ring of an anti-rearing surcingle.
If you use the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite under the mare’s halter, it is important that the holder is fixed firmly enough under the mare’s jaw. (When the mare holds her head straight, the Birth Alarm Mobile Premium/Lite should also be in a sufficiently horizontal position.)
Maintenance
From time to time, when you are near your mare, check if the battery level is still sufficient. This is quickly done by checking the color of the status light. It should light up green once every eight seconds. If you see a red flash, it means the batteries need to be replaced. (Always replace the batteries in sets of 3 and please do not use rechargeable batteries!)
Also check the call credit of your SIM card from time to time. To do this, remove the SIM card from the BA Mobile Premium/Lite and insert it into your mobile phone. Then call your operator’s call credit/recharge service and follow the instructions.
The little story...
I founded Sellerie Bucéphale in 2008 by opening a shop in the Drôme department (in France) because, as a dressage rider, I couldn’t find suitable equipment in the area. My presence quickly expanded by attending dressage competitions, local contests, and national and international events.
To meet the needs of all riders, I developed a website, allowing everyone to access high-quality technical products that are tested and approved.
Since 2016, I have been based in the city of Orange (in France) and am a partner of the regional dressage circuits.
I strive to offer custom-made and customizable items, and I place great importance on direct relationships with my customers.
