A bell boot covers the heel and the edge of the coronet band, where the hind hoof can strike when the horse loses a shoe or overreaches. It is the horse’s least expensive form of protection, and the one that prevents the injury that takes the longest to heal. 🧴 Care instructions
⚠️ A bell boot that is too large will turn and be stepped on; one that is too small will rub the coronet band. When the foot is placed on the ground, it should touch the ground at the back, but no further. Place it on a clean, dry foot with the opening facing backward and the Velcro facing outward, so that a branch cannot open it. It should rest on the ground without tightening around the coronet band. ⚠️ Remove it after the session. Rinse with clean water after use and leave to air-dry. Regularly check the condition of the Velcro: it is the first part to give way.
