A bit with large loose rings in blue-patinated sweet iron, with a barrel featuring brass rings.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to moist air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ The barrel is fitted with brass rings in the center. It is suitable for horses with a “dead” mouth that need stimulation, and increases tongue activity.
- ✔ The rings slide freely through the barrel, and their large diameter provides more leverage than an ordinary ring.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The brass reawakens a mouth that no longer salivates or shows activity: this is a bit for getting things moving again, not an everyday bit.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse’s mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it constricts the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Fit rubber bit guards: it is between the moving ring and the barrel that the corner of the mouth gets pinched. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ On a horse that is already restless in the mouth, this stimulation may have the opposite effect.
