A gag bit with full cheeks, made of mild steel with a blue patina and a mouthpiece featuring brass rings.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ The mouthpiece has brass rings in the center. It is suitable for horses with a “dead” mouth that need stimulation, and increases tongue activity.
- ✔ Two vertical full cheeks on a fixed ring, with two small rings for the gag cheekpieces. The cheeks increase lateral support and make steering easier. The ring is smaller than on an ordinary full-cheek bit, so the leverage is reduced.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The brass reawakens a mouth that no longer salivates or shows activity: this is a mouthpiece for getting things moving again, not an everyday mouthpiece.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse’s mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The gag cheekpiece replaces the usual bridle cheekpiece. ⚠️ The blue color changes to silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ On a horse that is already restless in the mouth, this stimulation may have the opposite effect.
