Cold, heat, or massage alone

Use Gel packs What Horseware says
Before exercise Without packs, or packs at room temperature, or packs warmed in lukewarm water The vibration alone creates a massage effect that stimulates blood circulation. Blood flow increases to the tendons and ligaments, making them more elastic, which may help prevent injuries during exercise.
After exercise Cold packs Combined with cold therapy, massage relieves strains and ligament and tendon problems; the vibrating action stimulates the lymphatic system, which helps reduce pain and swelling.
Older horses suffering from arthritis Packs warmed in lukewarm water Used together with massage, to help reduce stiffness.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Charge the vibrating panels for 4 hours (see Recharging).
  2. Prepare the gel packs according to the intended use: cold, at room temperature or warmed in lukewarm water (see table above) — or leave them out for massage only before exercise.
  3. Insert the massage plates and, if using them, the gel packs into the designated pockets.
  4. Place the leg wrap, knee boot or hock boot on the limb and fasten the Velcro straps for a perfect fit and to keep it securely in place.
  5. Turn on the panel using the on / off button and choose the setting (see below).
  6. The panel switches off automatically at the end of the program (10 or 20 minutes depending on the setting).

4-motor vibrating panel settings

The rechargeable panel contains a battery and a light-up indicator button that allows you to choose the massage intensity.

Setting Indicator light On / off button Program Use
1 — lowest Green — 10 minutes at low frequency (automatic shutoff after 10 minutes) —
2 — intermediate Orange Press twice 10 minutes at low frequency, then 10 minutes at high frequency (20 minutes total) Recommended before exercise (without cooling packs) and after exercise (with cooling packs).
3 — highest Red Press three times 20 minutes at high frequency Designed for larger horses.

Charging and USB-C charger

  • Ice-Vibe® batteries must be charged for 4 hours.
  • Do not leave the batteries discharged for more than 6 weeks.
  • The 4-motor vibrating panel is equipped with a USB-C charging port: it is incompatible with the chargers previously supplied with Ice-Vibe® leg wraps. If you replace a panel on older leg wraps, also switch your charging kit to USB-C.
  • The Ice-Vibe® USB-C cable and transformer are only compatible with panels featuring indicator lights and a USB-C port. Its dual cable allows two panels to be charged at the same time, and the kit includes four different connectors to fit the socket available to you. It does not include the panels.

Care and storage

Leg wraps, knee protectors, and hock protectors

Neoprene exterior, elastic inner pockets, soft attachment straps, secure Velcro.

  • Machine washable at 30 °C; one dose of detergent may be used.
  • Fasten all Velcro securely before washing.
  • No bleach, tumble-drying, or ironing. Air-dry away from heat sources.
  • Restore the product to its original shape while it is damp so that it retains that shape as it dries.

Vibrating panels

Laminated neoprene. Wipe with a damp cloth only, avoiding the charging port and buttons.

Storage

  • Once dry, carefully fold into a breathable storage bag.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture, avoiding excessive heat and exposure to UV rays.
  • The original packaging can be used as a multipurpose bag, for example for equestrian equipment.

Good to know

  • If you hose down the horse, wait until you have removed the water with a sweat scraper before putting on the Ice-Vibe: this reduces the risk of water getting into the charging ports.
  • The panels and batteries must be disposed of at a recycling center.
