Handcrafted loose-ring snaffle bit in brass and nickel silver.

The loose rings allow the mouthpiece to move in the horse’s mouth: the horse finds its own position, while the aids remain clear. It is the quintessential working bit. The single-jointed mouthpiece acts on the bars and corners of the mouth, with a slight pinching effect on the palate when both reins are used together. This is the most widely used type of bit, one that most horses are already familiar with. The entire KavalBit range is shaped and finished by hand, using an alloy of 70% brass and 30% nickel silver. Brass has a taste that horses readily accept and it encourages salivation; the cheeks are made of stainless steel, with no free nickel, so they pose no risk to sensitive horses. It offers excellent corrosion resistance.

🐎 Why choose this product?

Brass and nickel silver have a taste that horses readily accept and that helps maintain salivation. Add stainless-steel cheeks with no free nickel and hand craftsmanship, and you have a bit that is suitable even for horses sensitive to metals.

🧴 Care instructions

Rinse the bit with clean water after each use and dry it: that is all it requires. Avoid the dishwasher and abrasive products, which can dull the metal. Regularly check the joints and rings for wear, and replace the bit as soon as any play appears.
