Preparing the horse and the clipping area
- Check that the contents are complete.
- Check all parts for possible transport damage.
- Prepare a safe clipping area and take all necessary protective measures.
- Make sure the animal is properly secured and that its coat is clean and dry.
Installing the blade
Lister or Wahl blades are the most suitable and offer the best performance. Blades are manufactured in pairs (cutter and comb): always store and use them in pairs to extend their service life.
- Remove the battery from the clipper.
- Turn the device over and carefully place the blade (upper blade) on the clipper head. The crank wheel must fit into the blade’s notch.
- Position the comb (lower blade), ensuring that its two holes engage with the two pivots.
- Insert the clamping screw into the central hole.
- Slide the spring onto the clamping screw and firmly tighten the clamping nut.
- Adjust the tension (see below).
Adjusting the tension
- Hand-tighten the clamping nut as far as it will go.
- Then loosen the nut by one and a half turns to adjust the tension, using the mark on the nut as a guide.
- Excessive tension dulls the cutting head and causes it to overheat.
- Insufficient tension reduces cutting power and clogs the cutting head.
Oiling
- Brush excess hair from the cutting head and the clipper.
- During clipping, oil the cutting head every 5 to 10 minutes with R15 oil. Run the device briefly to distribute the oil, then switch it off and wipe off the excess.
Oiling points:
- Between the teeth of the cutting head, with the device head facing upward to distribute the oil between the blades.
- On the contact surfaces between the device head and the blade.
- At the rear of the cutting head, on both sides, tilting the device head to the side to distribute the oil over the rear surfaces.
- In the cutting head’s guide channels, through the two holes, tilting the device head to the side.
- On the crank and its wheel, through the central hole.
- Oil the cutting head frequently.
- Use only R15 oil: other lubricants may irritate the animal’s skin.
- Aerosol lubricants contain solvents that can damage the device or the cutting head.
Clipping: switching on and resetting
- Insert the charged battery into the clipper until the locking clips engage on both sides.
- Switch on the device by pressing the On/Off button once.
- After use, switch off the device by pressing the On/Off button once.
- To check the approximate charge level, switch off the device and press the battery’s “Fuel Gauge” button (charge indicator).
| Lights on | Charge level |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0 to 33% |
| 2 | 34 to 66% |
| 3 | 67 to 100% |
Reset
- The device returns to the factory settings every time you remove and reinsert the battery.
- If the cutting head appears to slow down during use, check the battery charge level. If the battery is sufficiently charged, clean and oil the cutting head, then reset the device by removing and reinserting the battery.
Charger base and battery charging
Installing the charger base
Place the charger base on a stable, level, dry, and clean surface.
- Choose the plug adapter suitable for your mains socket and attach it to the power supply until it clicks into place.
- Connect the charging cable to the charger base in the correct orientation.
- Connect the power supply to the mains socket.
Charging the battery
- To remove the battery from the clipper, press both locking clips simultaneously, one on each side.
- Check that the battery terminals are free of foreign objects and dirt.
- Place the battery in the charger base compartment so that it rests on the connectors.
- The lights remain continuously lit and indicate the current charge level: the battery is charging.
- When the battery is charged, the three lights on the base switch off. A full charge takes 130 minutes. Partial charging and discharging do not damage the cells. Unplug the charger when not in use.
- Insert the charged battery into the clipper until the clips on both sides engage.
When fully charged, the clipper operates for approximately two hours (about 130 minutes according to the original English version of the manual). Charge the battery before use.
Battery handling and overload protection
- Never disassemble, puncture, short-circuit, or burn the battery, and never throw it into a fire.
- Keep the battery dry and never immerse it in water.
- The battery contains no user-serviceable parts. Never attempt to replace the lithium battery cells. Never ship a defective battery (by mail or carrier).
- If the appliance is to remain unused for an extended period, remove the battery.
- The battery terminals must not be short-circuited.
Battery storage
The battery must be stored fully charged. It may gradually lose its charge during long-term storage: fully recharge it for 130 minutes every 6 months. If it has lost most of its charge, it will only regain its full capacity after three charge and discharge cycles.
Overload protection
The battery contains a protective fuse that cuts off the power if the cutting head jams. If it has tripped, inspect the cutting head and check that hair or fleece is not clogging the blades. Remove any foreign objects and replace a damaged cutting head.
To reset the protection, remove the battery from the clipper and then reinsert it. You can then resume clipping.
Cleaning and storage
- Wipe the handle with a soft cloth. Brush away all hair and dirt from the cutting head and the device head.
- Remove the cutting head for cleaning, taking care not to lose the tension spring. Oil the cutting head before storing it.
- Store the device in a clean, dry, and safe place.
Sharpening, blade replacement, and repairs
If cutting performance decreases, the cutting head must be sharpened or replaced. Remove and reinstall it (or fit the new one) by following the steps “Fitting the cutting head” and “Adjusting the tension”.
