The eggbutt rings are fixed: the mouthpiece does not rotate or pinch the corners of the mouth. The bit remains stable in the horse’s mouth, which reassures young or sensitive horses and makes the contact clearer. The single-jointed mouthpiece acts on the bars and corners of the mouth, with a slight pinching effect on the palate when both reins are used together. This is the most widely used type of bit, one that most horses are already familiar with. The entire KavalBit range is shaped and finished by hand, using an alloy of 70% brass and 30% nickel silver. Brass has a taste that horses readily accept and it encourages salivation; the cheeks are made of stainless steel, with no free nickel, making them safe for sensitive horses. It offers excellent corrosion resistance.
