This Pelham is a “baby” model: its cheeks are short, which reduces the leverage effect compared with a classic Pelham. It provides additional control over a strong horse without the power of a Pelham with long cheeks.
Its 12 mm mouthpiece is thin—and therefore more incisive than a thick mouthpiece, so it should be reserved for mouths that can tolerate it. It is made of solid Cuprigan, an alloy containing 89% copper that encourages chewing and salivation, with a double-jointed design for tongue comfort.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Short cheeks: moderate leverage, less powerful than a classic Pelham
- ✔ Cuprigan with 89% copper: encourages chewing and salivation, softening contact
- ✔ Double-jointed: the mouthpiece follows the tongue without creating pressure points on the palate
- ✔ Thin 12 mm mouthpiece, precise in its action
📋 Technical specifications

🐎 Why choose this product?
This is the Pelham to try first on a powerful horse: the short cheeks provide control without introducing significant leverage, while the Cuprigan compensates for the thinness of the mouthpiece by keeping the mouth moist. If that is not enough, move on to the long-cheek model—not the other way around.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ A thin 12 mm mouthpiece concentrates pressure: it is not suitable for every mouth and requires a light hand. The Pelham should be used with a curb chain, adjusted to engage at around 45° of rotation. Use it with two pairs of reins rather than with roundings.
Composition: Cuprigan, stainless steel.
