A blue-patinated Sweet Iron eggbutt bridle snaffle with a barrel featuring brass rings.

✨ Key benefits

  • ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
  • ✔ Barrel fitted with brass rings in the center. It is suitable for horses with a “dead” mouth that need stimulation, and increases tongue activity.
  • ✔ Small fixed rings: stable position in the mouth and direct action. This format is used as a snaffle on a double bridle (12 mm) or as a barrel for a hackamore (12 or 16 mm).

📋 Technical specifications

  • Type: eggbutt bridle snaffle
  • Material: Sweet Iron
  • Barrel: with brass rings
  • Barrel thickness: 16 mm
  • Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

The brass reawakens a mouth that no longer salivates or shows activity: this is a restart bit, not an everyday bit.

🧴 Usage tips

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse’s mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brownish gray with use, and an orange coating appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ On a horse that is already restless in the mouth, this stimulation may have the opposite effect.

About TRUST Equestrian ...

TRUST Equestrian is a Dutch brand specializing in bits and leatherwork. Its bits are designed, developed, and manufactured in the Netherlands, where a team of technicians assembles them by hand. Production of Sweet Iron mouthpieces began more than fifteen years ago, followed by Leather and then Inno Sense mouthpieces. The range now includes three materials, twenty-two mouthpieces, and thirty-four types of shanks, totaling more than two thousand different bits. TRUST bits are anatomically shaped: slightly curved, they follow the shape of the horse’s mouth. The leather collection is made from European full-grain leather, and each model takes the anatomy of the modern horse into account.
