Handcrafted loose-ring snaffle bit, made of brass and German silver.

The loose rings allow the mouthpiece to move in the horse’s mouth: the horse finds its own position, while the aids remain clear. It is the ultimate everyday work bit. The Lock Up mechanism is the distinguishing feature of this mouthpiece: beyond a certain angle, the double-jointed mouthpiece locks and acts like a straight bar in the horse’s mouth. It can no longer fold in on itself, which prevents excessive pressure on the palate and provides a gentler action than a conventional single-jointed bit. The entire KavalBit range is shaped and finished by hand from an alloy of 70% brass and 30% German silver. Brass has a taste that horses readily accept and encourages salivation; the rings are made of stainless steel, free from unbound nickel, so there is no risk for sensitive horses. Corrosion resistance is excellent.

🐎 Why choose this product?

Brass and German silver have a taste that horses readily accept and that encourages salivation. Add stainless steel rings free from unbound nickel and handcrafted construction, and you have a bit suitable even for horses sensitive to metals.

🧴 Care instructions

Rinse the bit with clean water after each use and dry it: that is all it requires. Avoid the dishwasher and abrasive products, which dull the metal. Regularly check the wear on the joints and rings, and replace the bit as soon as any play appears.
