A Liverpool bit with three slots and rotating cheeks, made of blue-patinated mild steel, with a double-jointed mouthpiece and elliptical center link.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Double-jointed mouthpiece with an elliptical center link. This shape better follows the anatomy of the mouth, allowing the bit to sit more freely, but it applies slightly more pressure to the center of the tongue than a single joint.
- ✔ Driving bit with three adjustment slots, with a mouthpiece that pivots on the cheeks: the action is applied more progressively.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The elliptical center link eliminates the pinching effect of a single joint without imposing the firmness of a flat plate: this is the most forgiving type of double-jointed bit.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Driving bit: adjust both sides to the same slot. A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is the normal behavior of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
