🐎 Why choose this product?
A high neck is a fabric extension that rises to mid-neck: it extends the rug in front of the withers without being a neck cover. The rug rests on the neck rather than on the prominent vertebrae, preventing rubbing and broken hairs on a horse with prominent withers — but the neck remains uncovered beyond that point. The fill weight is the amount of filling, in grams per square metre: this is what provides warmth. As a general guide: 0 to 50 g for basic rain protection, 100 to 150 g for transitional seasons, 200 to 300 g for winter, and more for a clipped horse or one that lives outdoors. A horse sweating under its rug is too hot: it is better to use slightly less filling than to leave a horse wet with sweat.
🧴 Care instructions
Brush the rug when dry rather than washing it too often: every wash damages the waterproof coating. ⚠️ Do not use fabric softener, as it clogs the breathable membrane. After a few seasons, a reproofing product for technical textiles can restore the water-repellent finish. ⚠️ The stated size is the back length: measure your horse from the withers to the base of the tail, along the spine. A rug that is too short pulls on the shoulders and causes wither sores; one that is too long shifts around and the horse may get its feet caught in it.
