This bit is made of solid Cuprigan — an alloy of 89% copper, 7% aluminum, 3% iron, and 1% zinc — mounted on stainless steel components. As it oxidizes, the material releases a pleasant smell and taste. Its anatomical shape follows the contours of the mouth and distributes pressure gently and evenly.
The cheeks are removable. A full-cheek snaffle has two vertical bars — the cheeks — in front of the rings. They press against the horse’s cheeks, strengthening steering aids while preventing the bit from being pulled through the mouth. The horse is easy to guide, which makes this bit suitable for young horses. A full-cheek snaffle can be fitted with keepers, which hold it in place and give it a slight leverage effect.
