Handcrafted loose-ring snaffle, made of brass and nickel silver.

The loose rings are fixed: the mouthpiece does not swivel or pinch the corners of the mouth. The bit remains stable in the horse’s mouth, which reassures young or sensitive horses and makes the contact clearer. The single-jointed mouthpiece acts on the bars and the corners of the mouth, with a slight pinching effect on the palate when both reins are used together. This is the most widely used type of bit, one that most horses are already familiar with. The entire KavalBit range is shaped and finished by hand, using an alloy of 70% brass and 30% nickel silver. Brass has a taste that horses readily accept and it encourages salivation; the cheeks are made of stainless steel, with no free nickel, so there is no risk for sensitive horses. Corrosion resistance is excellent.

🧴 Care instructions

Rinse the bit with clean water after each use and dry it: that is all it requires. Avoid the dishwasher and abrasive products, which dull the metal. Regularly check the wear on the joints and rings, and replace the bit as soon as any play appears.
