A blue-patinated Sweet Iron loose-ring elevator bit with a Cherry Roller roller mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to moist air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Single-jointed mouthpiece fitted with free-moving rollers on each side. The rollers discourage the horse from grabbing the bit or locking it between its teeth.
- ✔ Fixed ring fitted with two small rings for the elevator cheekpieces. The bit encourages the horse to raise its head. The fixed rings transmit the action more directly than loose-ring elevators. The pressure points are the poll and the corners of the mouth.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The rollers occupy the mouth of a horse that tries to lock its bit between its teeth—a fault that ruins all contact.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it squeezes the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The elevator cheekpiece replaces the usual bridle cheekpiece. Two reins allow you to adjust the effect. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
