When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.

✔ Double-jointed with an elliptical central link. This shape better follows the anatomy of the mouth, allowing the bit to sit more freely, but it applies slightly more pressure to the center of the tongue than a single-jointed bit.

✔ A milder version of the three-ring (Pessoa) bit: leverage is present, becoming more direct when the rein is attached lower down. The loose rings allow more movement of the bit than an eggbutt version.

📋 Technical specifications

Type: 2.5-ring bit

Material: Sweet Iron

Mouthpiece: double-jointed with an elliptical link

Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm

Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

The elliptical link eliminates the pinching effect of a single joint without imposing the firmness of a flat plate: it is the most forgiving type of double-jointed mouthpiece.

🧴 Usage advice

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or measure the bit it currently wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Leverage acts on the poll: use it with a light hand and check the cheekpiece adjustment. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0624/0029/9177/files/E26825_L050_01_1d459403-485a-40fa-b821-d83d35b51885.jpg?v=1788473626
https://selleriebucephale.com/en/products/mors-trust-sweet-iron-a-2-5-anneaux-double-brisure-a-maillon-elliptique
