When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.

✔ A single joint. This mouthpiece puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed one and works mainly on the bars and sides of the tongue. It is the standard mouthpiece.

✔ The rings slide freely through the mouthpiece. The rein aid therefore acts less directly than with a fixed-ring bit: the bit moves, so the horse cannot brace against a fixed contact point.

📋 Technical specifications

Type: loose-ring snaffle

Material: Sweet Iron

Mouthpiece: single-jointed

Mouthpiece thicknesses: 12 mm / 16 mm

Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

This is the mouthpiece most horses are familiar with: the one to start with, and the one to return to when you want to determine what comes from the bit and what comes from the hand.

🧴 Usage advice

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. Choose the thickness according to the mouth: a thick mouthpiece distributes pressure over a larger surface, but takes up space in a shallow mouth or one with a thick tongue. ⚠️ Fit rubber bit guards: the corner of the mouth is pinched between the mobile ring and the mouthpiece. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0624/0029/9177/files/E28089_L050_01_b34ec9d2-515d-4579-b42f-5be198c80e0a.jpg?v=1788471835
