When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.

✔ Double-jointed with an elliptical center link. This shape follows the anatomy of the mouth more closely, allowing the bit to sit more freely, but it applies slightly more pressure to the center of the tongue than a single-jointed bit.

✔ A gentler version of the three-ring (Pessoa): leverage is present, becoming more pronounced the lower the rein is attached. Because the rings are fixed, the bit moves less in the mouth than a 2.5-ring bit with loose rings.

📋 Technical specifications

Type: 2.5-ring eggbutt bit

Material: Sweet Iron

Mouthpiece: double-jointed with elliptical center link

Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm

Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

The elliptical center link eliminates the pinching effect of a single joint without imposing the firmness of a flat plate: this is the most forgiving type of double-jointed bit.

🧴 Directions for use

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Leverage acts on the poll: use it with a light hand and check the cheekpiece adjustment. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is the normal behavior of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0624/0029/9177/files/E26918_L050_01_8ad59cd5-e1e0-4fe6-87f9-4dfe38069be3.jpg?v=1788472838
https://selleriebucephale.com/en/products/mors-trust-sweet-iron-a-olives-2-5-anneaux-double-brisure-a-maillon-elliptique
