When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.

✔ A succession of articulated elliptical links: the mouthpiece follows every contour and provides no fixed point of leverage. Used on strong horses that lean on the hand and have difficulty relaxing their jaw.

✔ The rings do not slide: the bit stays in a stable position in the mouth and the action of the hand is transmitted more directly. The eggbutt cheeks do not pinch the lips, so bit guards are unnecessary.

📋 Technical specifications

Type: eggbutt bit

Material: Sweet Iron

Mouthpiece: ball Waterford

Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm

Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

There is no fixed point of support: a strong horse cannot find anything to lean against. Reserve it for steady hands, as its mobility leaves no room for a moving hand.

🧴 Usage advice

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit measuring gauge, or measure the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Very mobile mouthpiece, reserved for experienced, steady hands.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0624/0029/9177/files/E25650_L050_01_578b4f94-54e7-418c-a48d-fbe4a097075e.jpg?v=1788472917
