When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.

✔ A series of articulated elliptical links: the mouthpiece follows every contour and offers no fixed point of resistance. Used on heavy horses that lean on the hand and have difficulty relaxing their jaw.

✔ Leverage cheekpiece: the lower the rein is attached, the stronger the action. The point of support is on the poll, just behind the ears.

📋 Technical specifications

Type: three-ring (Pessoa) bit

Material: Sweet Iron

Mouthpiece: Waterford with balls

Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm

Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

There is no fixed point of support: the heavy horse has nothing to lean against. Reserve it for experienced hands, as its mobility leaves no room for a moving hand.

🧴 Usage tips

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit gauge, or measure the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The three-ring bit increases the leverage of the hand. Start with the highest ring. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Very mobile mouthpiece, intended for experienced, steady hands.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0624/0029/9177/files/E26744_L050_01_2776b582-8f60-4703-8073-319c0b93d084.jpg?v=1788642794
https://selleriebucephale.com/en/products/mors-trust-sweet-iron-a-trois-anneaux-pessoa-waterford-a-billes
