When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.

✔ Single joint with both sections twisted. The twist creates edges, resulting in a sharper action on the bars than a smooth single joint.

✔ Small loose rings that slide through the mouthpiece, making the action less direct. This format is used as a bridoon in a double bridle (12 mm) or as a mouthpiece for a hackamore (12 or 16 mm).

📋 Technical specifications

Type: loose-ring bridoon bit

Material: Sweet Iron

Mouthpiece: twisted, single-jointed

Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm

Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

The twist sharpens the action on the bars: this is a bit for occasional corrective use and should not be left in a horse's mouth for extended periods.

🧴 Usage advice

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Fit rubber bit guards to prevent pinching at the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal for Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ This mouthpiece is not suitable for sensitive horses or inexperienced riders.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0624/0029/9177/files/E25665_L050_01_d9df1804-e8d4-4e0d-ad92-bfd87c6d56a5.jpg?v=1788710260
https://selleriebucephale.com/en/products/mors-trust-sweet-iron-filet-de-bride-a-anneaux-libres-torsade-a-brisure-simple
