When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.

✔ Double-jointed mouthpiece with a flat central plate. When the bit rotates, pressure is distributed between the center and the sides of the tongue.

✔ Fixed ring fitted with two small rings for the gag cheekpieces. The bit encourages the horse to raise its head. Fixed rings transmit the action more directly than a gag bit with loose rings. The pressure points are the poll and the corners of the mouth.

✔ More incisive mouthpiece than a standard double-jointed bit: the plate acts edge-on against the tongue.

📋 Technical specifications

Type: eggbutt gag bit

Material: Sweet Iron

Mouthpiece: double-jointed Dr. Bristol

Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm

Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

Use with due care: the plate acts edge-on, making this mouthpiece more incisive than it appears.

🧴 Instructions for use

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or measure the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it squeezes the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The gag cheekpiece replaces the usual bridle cheekpiece. Two reins allow you to adjust the effect. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange coating appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0624/0029/9177/files/E27334_L050_01_7cede4ba-9b57-4728-aef1-01c029720f68.jpg?v=1788643012
https://selleriebucephale.com/en/products/mors-trust-sweet-iron-releveur-a-olives-double-brisure-dr-bristol
