A breastcollar prevents the saddle from slipping backward, which can happen with horses that have a low wither and a round ribcage—ponies, Iberian horses and round-bodied horses. The elastic version is clearly preferable, because a tightly fastened rigid breastcollar restricts shoulder extension and shortens the gaits.
🧴 Use and care instructions
⚠️ Adjust it so that you can fit one flat hand between the breastcollar and the chest: it holds the saddle in place without tightening. Make sure it does not rise onto the trachea. Maintain the leather with glycerin soap followed by leather grease, and do not apply any product to the elastic.
