The smaller sizes are designed for ponies and Shetlands: a shortened horse turnout sheet is not a substitute for a cut designed around their build. A waterproof sheet is not a cold-weather blanket: without filling, it keeps out rain and wind but does not provide warmth. It is what an unclipped horse living outdoors needs—the horse keeps its coat for warmth, while the sheet prevents it from getting soaked. ⚠️ For a clipped horse or in very cold weather, filling is required.
🧴 Care instructions
Brush the sheet while dry rather than washing it too often: every wash wears down the waterproof coating. ⚠️ Do not use fabric softener, as it clogs the breathable membrane. After a few seasons, a reproofing product for technical fabrics can restore its water-repellent properties. ⚠️ The stated size is the back length: measure your horse from the withers to the base of the tail, along the spine. A sheet that is too short pulls on the shoulders and rubs the withers; one that is too long shifts around and can cause the horse to catch its feet in it.
