The distance between the rings determines where the rein is deflected. Being able to adjust it, rather than simply accepting it, changes the action on a horse with a broad or narrow chest.
🧴 Care instructions
⚠️ If adjusted too short, a martingale acts continuously and becomes a restrictive training aid. When correctly adjusted, it does nothing as long as the horse remains within its normal range of movement. Always use rein stops and buckle reins. Clean with glycerine soap, then condition once the leather is dry. ⚠️ Never dry leather near a radiator: it becomes stiff and cracks.
