🐎 Why choose this product?
XS sizes are designed for ponies, Shetlands and foals: a shortened horse rug is not a substitute for a cut designed to fit their build. The weight refers to the amount of filling, in grams per square metre; this is what provides warmth. As a general guide: 0 to 50 g for basic rain protection, 100 to 150 g for transitional seasons, 200 to 300 g for winter, and more for a clipped horse or one that lives outdoors. A horse that sweats under its rug is too hot: it is better to use slightly too little filling than to leave a horse wet with sweat.
🧴 Care instructions
Brush the rug when dry rather than washing it too often: each wash damages the waterproof coating. ⚠️ Do not use fabric softener, as it blocks the breathable membrane. After a few seasons, a re-waterproofing product for technical fabrics can restore the water-repellent finish. ⚠️ The size indicated is the back length: measure your horse from the withers to the base of the tail, along the spine. A rug that is too short pulls on the shoulders and causes wither rubs; one that is too long shifts around and the horse may catch its feet in it.
