- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ A series of articulated elliptical links: the mouthpiece follows every contour and offers no fixed point of leverage. Used on heavy-handed horses that have difficulty relaxing their jaw.
- ✔ Small fixed rings: stable position in the mouth and direct action. This format is used as a bridoon on a double bridle (12 mm) or as a mouthpiece for a hackamore (12 or 16 mm).

🧴 Directions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit measuring stick, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it squeezes the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Very mobile mouthpiece; reserved for experienced, steady hands.
