The Alaska IV has no filling but is fleece-lined: waterproof on the outside, moisture-wicking on the inside, for the in-between seasons and horses that come in wet.

Here, the fleece lining replaces the filling: it absorbs moisture from the coat and carries it outward, while the 1200-denier ripstop fabric keeps out the rain (4,000 mm water column, breathability of 3,000 g/m² over 24 hours). The blanket is made without a back seam and has a forward-set withers design: it measures approximately 10 cm longer than the horse’s back, intentionally, so it rests in front of the withers, covers the shoulder, and does not slide backward when the horse lowers its head. Like the other Alaska IV blankets, it is compatible with leg straps and features an elasticized freedom pleat, crossed surcingles with elastic inserts, and a double chest clip with two rings.

🐎 Why choose this product?

Putting a wet horse out in a pasture under a filled blanket means trapping it in its own moisture. A fleece lining does the opposite: it wicks moisture away while the fabric keeps out the rain.

🧴 Care instructions

Fasten all the hook-and-loop closures and place the blanket in a sturdy laundry bag: without one, the hardware bangs against the drum, opens, and rusts. Wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, using a special detergent for outdoor blankets. Do not waterproof it: the water resistance comes from a coating applied to the back of the fabric, which water-repellent products can damage. Once a year, a specialist cleaner can take care of the rest.

Composition

80% polyester, 10.75% polypropylene, 7% metal (hardware), 1% elastane, 1% PVC, 0.25% rubber.
