Preparing the horse and the clipping area
- Check that the contents are complete.
- Check all parts for possible transport damage.
- Prepare a safe clipping area and take all necessary protective measures.
- Make sure the animal is properly secured and that its coat is clean and dry.
Installing the clipper head
Lister or Wahl clipper heads are best suited and offer the best performance. Clipper heads are manufactured in pairs (cutter and comb): always store and use them in pairs to extend their service life.
- Disconnect the device from the power outlet.
- Turn the device over and carefully place the cutter (upper blade) on the clipper head. The crank wheel must fit into the notch in the blade.
- Position the comb (lower blade), ensuring that its two holes engage with the two pins.
- Insert the tension screw into the central hole.
- Slide the spring onto the tension screw and firmly tighten the tension nut.
- Adjust the tension (see below).
Adjusting the tension
- Tighten the tension nut by hand as far as it will go.
- Then loosen the nut by one and a half turns to adjust the tension, using the mark on the nut as a guide.
- Excessive tension dulls the clipper head and causes it to overheat.
- Insufficient tension reduces cutting power and clogs the clipper head.
Oiling
- Brush excess hair off the clipper head and the clipper.
- During clipping, oil the clipper head every 5 to 10 minutes with R15 oil. Run the device briefly to distribute the oil, then switch it off and wipe off any excess.
Oiling points:
- Between the teeth of the cutting head, with the device head facing upward to distribute the oil between the blades.
- On the contact surfaces between the device head and the blade.
- At the rear of the cutting head, on both sides, tilting the device head to the side to distribute the oil over the rear surfaces.
- In the cutting head's guide channels, through the two holes, tilting the device head to the side.
- On the crank and its wheel, through the central hole.
- Oil the cutting head frequently.
- Use only R15 oil: other lubricants may irritate the animal's skin.
- Aerosol lubricants contain solvents that can damage the device or the cutting head.
Clipping: switching on, speeds, and overload protection
- Plug the mains cable into the outlet.
- Switch on the device by pushing the sliding switch forward.
- To switch to high speed, push the switch farther forward.
- After use, move the switch backward to switch off the device.
| Position | Function |
|---|---|
| 0 | Off |
| I | Normal speed |
| II | High speed |

Overload protection
The device has a protection feature that stops the motor when the cutting head jams. If it has been triggered, check the cutting head and make sure that the coat or fleece is not clogging the blades. Remove foreign objects and replace a damaged cutting head.
To reset the protection, push the switch backward, beyond the off position (reset position).
Cleaning the filter
- Check and clean the filter regularly.
- Pull the retaining tab to remove the filter.
- Hold the filter up to the light to check that its metal mesh is not clogged.
- Wipe or brush off dust and dirt.
- Check that the filter is clean and dry before putting it back in place.
Cleaning and storage
- Wipe the handle with a soft cloth. Brush hair and dirt from the cutting head and the device head.
- Remove the cutting head for cleaning, taking care not to lose the tension spring. Oil the cutting head before storing it.
- Store the device in a clean, dry and safe place.
Gear lubrication (every 100 hours)
Every 100 operating hours, with the device switched off and unplugged:
- Unscrew the 5 front screws.
- Remove the clipper head, then the motor housing.
- Wipe hair and used grease from the drive gear.
- Check that there are no worn or broken teeth.
- Regrease the gears with clean grease (R2 or equivalent).
- Reinstall the clipper head and motor housing before switching the device on again.
Sharpening, blade replacement and repairs
If cutting performance decreases, the cutting head must be sharpened or replaced. Remove and reinstall it (or fit the new one) by following the steps “Fitting the cutting head” and “Adjusting the tension”.
