A Sweet Iron full cheek snaffle with a blue patina and a twisted, single-jointed mouthpiece.

- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Single joint with both branches twisted. The twist creates edges, resulting in a more incisive action on the bars than a smooth single joint.
- ✔ Two vertical cheekpieces on a fixed ring. These full cheeks press against the side of the cheek and significantly aid steering. The ring is smaller than that of a D-ring bit, so the leverage effect is lower.

The twist sharpens the action on the bars: this is a bit for occasional corrective use and should not be used continuously in a horse's mouth.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it constricts the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The high cheekpieces are attached to the bridle with keepers to prevent them from tipping forward. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ This mouthpiece is not suitable for sensitive horses or inexperienced riders.
